First edition. A volume of poetry by Paul Éluard (1895-1952), a French author of, among other things, love lyric poetry, one of the main representatives of Surrealism. The book is decorated with an unpublished portrait of the poet by Louis Marcoussis (1878-1941) , owned by Louis Casimir Wladyslaw Markus, a graphic artist and painter of Jewish origin, a prominent member of the Parisian artistic avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century.
