Warsaw 1882, Gebethner and Wolff. 14.5x20 cm, pp. 260, (4), (1), 273, (3), period hardcover, full leather with gilt, five-panel spine, gilt page edges, decorative border. Good condition (some pages with a small trace of flooding in the upper part of the book block, leather abrasions).
Biographical study on one of the most outstanding Polish composers. The book is the fruit of Karasowski's twenty years of toil, undertaken to search for and collect materials on Chopin's life and works. The author wrote down and included here many of the composer's letters, to which he gained access thanks to Izabella Barcinska, who was in charge of the late brother's legacy. Piece in a beautiful period binding.
