A set of two volumes of memoirs of Pilot General Stanislaw Karpinski (1891-1982), based on his personal notes, supported by the recollections of those close to him and historical source studies. The history of the Polish Air Force from the outbreak of war through the events of September, the evacuation through Romania, the attempts to recreate the Polish Air Force in France and then to rebuild it in England, are given in the form of colorful and direct accounts almost from day to day.
