"One does not need to be either a bitter grumbler or a subtle observer and expert in contemporary currents to conclude that the filthy wave of moral corruption is rising in our days. It's no longer a matter of transient fashion outbursts, these or other immoral films, writings, performances, the abuse of sports for pagan body worship, and so on. Analogous phenomena have always existed, and always the elders have complained about the decline of morality in the younger generation. At the present time, however, it must be frightening that moral debauchery is being elevated to the dignity of a principle, that immoral transgressions are being absolved without confession or penance, that they are being made a necessity of life, and are even being adorned with cynical phraseology about a new, progressive morality. We are no longer just dealing with a fall, a transgression, but with a principle that sees virtue in transgression. This is the new triumph of hedonism." [excerpt]
