A monumental work by French agronomist Louis Liger (1658-1717), which is a kind of encyclopedia of rural and agricultural life. The author touches on all the important issues in the management of rural property: he teaches about building, gardens and how to design them, the arrangement of the yard, horses, harvesting, bees, species of trees and shrubs, birds, cooking and running a kitchen, growing vines, fishing, hunting, etc. The whole is supplemented by dozens of plates (two are missing for completeness) and woodcuts in the text.
