Complete album of Jan Matejko's woodcuts of paintings. Added to each plate is a page with explanatory text by Kazimierz Władysław Wójcicki (1807-1912). Among the woodcuts are portraits of, among others, Jan Kochanowski, Nicolaus Copernicus, Jan Odrowąż and many others. They were engraved by the greatest masters: Piotr Dyamentowski, Aleksander T. Regulski ,Józef Holewiński, Jan Styfi, Michał Kluczewski, Kazimierz Krzyżanowski, Andrzej Zajkowski.
