Leipzig 1837, Breitkopf and Hartel. 10x14.5 cm, pp. VIII, 338, (4), black and white lithographs (6), at the end of the piece notes with Bojanowski's Sonnet with music by Karol Lipinski and information on publishing news, period binding, decorated calico, gilded page edges, on the pastedown a sticker from the Wilda Bookstore in Lviv. Good condition (single soiling of pages, rubbing of binding, delicate break in cloth, ownership stamps of Count Wiktor Baworowski Foundation).
The third and final volume of Melitele, one of the most effectively published poetic almanacs of the 19th century. The first two volumes were published in Warsaw, the third volume edited by Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz appeared in Leipzig in 1837. Edited by Antoni Odyniec, the volume includes: first editions of poems by Adam Mickiewicz (To M. L. and Arch-master) and poetry by Ignacy Chodko, Julian Korsak, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz(Dziecię na ręku starca, Dumanie w wieczór), Antoni Odyniec, J. B. Zaleski, among others. Piece with a set of engravings depicting, among others, Biruta, Kiejstutus, the Roman Forum, the Italian Harvesters and the Sister of Mercy.
On the pre-title page a dedication to Wiktor Baworowski (1826-1894) - bibliophile, patron of sciences, poet and translator of romantic works by Byron and Hugo, founder of the Baworowski Library in Lviv.
