"The Pharmacopoeia is a collection of separate articles on raw materials, chemical compounds and galenic preparations used in medicine. The articles are arranged in alphabetical order of Latin names, followed by Polish names, and then the more common synonyms of both Latin and Polish names, with the international Latin names, which differ from those adopted in the Polish Pharmacopoeia, given in the first place of the synonyms. Patented names are followed in parentheses by the letters n. z. (proprietary name). In articles on chemical compounds, the molecular formula is given, the structural formula, if known, then the molecular (particle) or atomic weight, followed by a description of the properties (form, odor, taste, solubility, etc.). Methods of obtaining are given for all galenical preparations, but sometimes also for such compounds that can be easily obtained in a pharmacy laboratory. Next, the methods of making tests, used to check the identity and purity of a given preparation, are described. Usually, after the description of each test, the meaning of the test is given in a few words in parentheses. In articles on more valuable and potent preparations, ways of quantifying the ingredients are given."
