A compilation of the main events and decrees from 1789 to 1792, summarizing the French Revolution and its history. The author, Jean-Paul Rabaut (1743-1793), was a pastor, a leader of French Protestants, a member of the States General (an assembly representing representatives of the three states of France: nobility, clergy and the rest of society, convened as an advisory body to the king), appointed representative of the third state on March 27, 1789. He was moderately supportive of the Revolution - he believed that the National Assembly should remain faithful to the principles of equality and freedom, while preserving the monarchy. After a brief period in hiding, he was guillotined in 1793.
The almanac is decorated with six engravings by Jean-Michel Moreau (1741-1814), one of the most famous artists creating illustrations during the French Rococo period.
