The book by Karol Surowiecki (1754-1824) is his response to Stanisław Kostka Potocki's Journey to Darkness, published by him, in which he derided the Catholic religion, mocked and ridiculed the clergy, and portrayed orthodox Jews in a negative light. Since Potocki posted his articles under the pseudonym Swistek, so Surowiecki published a pamphlet against him entitled Swistak Warszawski. In his book, he called Potocki a Warsaw fart and accused him of lying and perversity. After the publication of Swistak , Father Surowiecki was temporarily suspended from the priesthood, and Archbishop Szczepan Holowczyc ordered the booklet to be withdrawn from sale.
