Jerzy Lewczynski met Zdzislaw Beksinski in 1957, and thus one of the most fascinating artistic friendships was born, lasting until 2005, i.e. until Beksinski's tragic death. On 27.01.58 ZB wrote to JL from Sanok: "Dear Colleague! I received your letter today regarding the joint exhibition. I am very pleased that you know some of my photographs and that you like them. I also know some of your works from "Fotografia"(magazine). I liked the "Crucifixion" the most, the least the story with the hand, table, roll and money (I don't remember the title). As you can see, I am sincere..." JL returned the favor to his friend with several portraits, including this one of his wife and son.
