Paris 1953 Literary Institute. Series: Library of "Culture", vol. V. 13.5x21.5 cm, pp. 156, (3), cloth bookbinding. Good condition (undated stamps of the Library of the Polish Cultural and Social Club in Adelaide, tape mark on the pre-title page).

First edition. Milosz's first volume of poetry published in exile. Contains works mostly published in 1945-1950 in national periodicals(Odrodzenie, Nowa Polska, Warszawa, Twórczość, Zeszyty Wrocławskie, Nowa Kultura), and from 1951 in the Paris-based Kultura. The volume includes, among others, the cycle The World (Naive Poems) (1943) and two poems: Moral Treatise and Toast.
