First edition. One of the most important volumes published after the war by Milosz. Professor Aleksander Fiut wrote about this book in the Tygodnik Powszechny as follows:"The poetic treatise posed a diagnosis of Polish poetry, supported by an assessment of the history of European civilization, viewed from the perspective of the experience of World War II."
